Aida - Teatro de La Scala in Tel Aviv

Next month, the famous Opera Aida will be be presented by the most renowned Teatro de La Scala Opera House visiting Tel Aviv, after 16 years from their last performance of Aida in Tel Aviv in 1993 . The magnificent show will be conducted by Daniel Barenboim in the main Opera House of Tel Aviv and will be directed by Franco Zeffirelli .

The breakthrough that DATA managed to achieve for the diplomatic community is that, despite the fact that 3 month ago all tickets were sold out and an additional performance was even added to cope with the growing demand, DATA was able to secure for diplomats the last 50 tickets dedicated to VIPs in the best seats at the final performance on the 22nd of July 2009 at 8:00 pm sharp.

The price of the ticket costs 1100 NIS (Shekels) per person is still high, we acknowledge that, but even to get these seats in the final performance is a real achievement for our association.

The idea for that specific day is to have the elites of the Israeli society, whether in the political or the business spheres, with the diplomatic community to enjoy together "Aida for Peace" in which Verdi te
lls the story of the beautiful princess Aida and her search for Love of the Egyptian army commander Radamis and Peace between their two nations.

The first performance of Aida was conducted in Cairo Opera House, 24th December 1871 , celebrating the official opening of the "Suez Canal" with the Emperors, kings and Queens of the world at that time.

N.B. Tickets will be subject to availability, i.e. it will be sold to the first 50 reservations due to the limited number of tickets.

Those who are interested to participate in this unique cultural event of DATA are kindly requested to RSVP by TUESDAY, June 30th 2009.

On behalf of the Diplomatic Spouses' Club in Israel, DATA has the pleasure to transmit herewith a message and an invitation for participation in the DSC's Annual Charity Bazaar on April 25th, 2009 at the American International School.

As in previous years DSC has chosen to assist a non-profit organization in Israel that works with the needy, regardless of their ethnic, religious or social background. In 2009 DSC has chosen MICHA - a voluntary & not-for-profit Multidisciplinary Centre that cares for deaf and hard of hearing babies and children, from infancy through first grade in Tel Aviv and Central Israel.

As in previous years the resourceful ideas and the help of Embassies and diplomats such as free plane tickets, certificates for restaurants, gift baskets with products from the home country, food stands, etc. are greatly encouraged and will be very appreciated.

The bazaar will also provide you with the opportunity to donate your "white elephants" - new things that you don't use but you find in your home during your spring cleaning.
